Patient Information
Start your journey with us—everything you need to begin your care is right here.
Thank you for choosing our clinic. At your first visit, we’ll take the time to get to know you and understand your main concerns. This appointment usually takes around an hour, with shorter visits for follow-ups. Your doctor will go through a detailed history and may recommend extra tests such as allergy skin testing or blood tests so we can get the clearest and most accurate diagnosis. We’ll always explain what we’re doing and why, and make sure you understand the plan moving forward.
Please feel free to ask questions at any time; many families find it helpful to bring a list of questions. A good tip is to “favourite” or create a notes document on your phone with photos of any reactions or symptoms of concern.
We look forward to caring for you and your family.
In preparation for your visit, we ask that you do the following:
- Please complete and email/upload ‘New patient registration form’
- Have breakfast, lunch or a light snack before coming to the office.
- If you are less than 18 years of age a parent or guardian must accompany you to our office.
- Please bring a valid referral letter, Medicare card, and any recent investigation results, previous skin prick or patch testing reports, and relevant medical correspondence. For children, bringing their red book with recent growth measurements is also helpful.
- Avoid antihistamines for 3–5 days before your appointment, as they can affect skin testing. You may continue nose sprays, eye drops, asthma medications, antibiotics, and steroid creams. Do not apply moisturisers or topical steroids on areas likely to be tested (for example forearms, legs, back).
Examples of most commonly used medications include:
- Antihistamines: Claratyne (loratadine), Desonex or Aerius (desloratadine), Allegra or Telfast (fexofenadine), Zyrtec (cetirizine), Xyzal (levocetirizine), and Benadryl (diphenhydramine).
- Asthma puffers: Ventolin and flixotide. Other asthma medications can include oral Singulair (montelukast)
- Nasal sprays such as Flonase or Avamys (fluticasone), Nasonex (mometasone), Nascort (triamcinolone), Ryaltris (olopatadine/ mometasone) or Dymista (azelastine/ fluticasone)
